AFC Wimbledon Foundation is the charitable arm of AFC Wimbledon Football Club that is founded on the principles of hard work, determination, passion and integrity and is owned by and for its fans.
The club are currently based at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, KIngsmeadow, Kingston but will be moving to a new purpose built stadium adjacent to its original ground in Plough Lane, Wimbledon in 2019.
It currently delivers a series of high quality projects in 25 schools across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston that reflect its commitment to improving the education, health and well- being of its local communities.
The Foundation is currently extending its schools’ provision and this brochure outlines the activities it offers to local schools and opportunities for working in partnership with the club.

Premier League Primary Stars
A free 12 week programme that provides up to three hours of high quality multi-sport PE delivery, classroom learning support, literacy, numeracy , PSHE / health activities, CPD and teacher mentoring programmes.
Sessions are delivered by Level 2 coaches who have completed the AfPE / First 4 Sport Level 3 Assisting School Sport qualification as recommended by the DfE and are based on all children enjoying and participating in sport, health and learning activities.
Premier League Reading Stars
A ten week programme that can be delivered as part of Primary Stars or independently that combines literacy activities and a love of reading related to sport and football. A typical session would consist of a 45 minute classroom activity followed by a related sports session for a small group of selected students.
A six / ten week programme of healthy lifestyles lessons combined with physical activity sessions that promote each student’s personal fitness. Children undertake a series of challenges each week in a non – competitive environment to improve fitness and learn how to stay fit and healthy.
The programme can be combined with classroom learning support and PE curriculum or extra-curricular activity.
Termly or year long delivery support for primary schools that provides a structured programme of PE lessons in line with National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements.
Experienced coaches deliver a multi sports programme across each Key Stage and provide feedback and reports on individual pupil progress in core skills and competencies.
Coaching staff are also able to support delivery of literacy and numeracy and PSHE activities in a classroom setting.
The Foundation delivers a structured and engaging coaching programme in breakfast club, lunchtime and afterschool settings that reflects the needs of schools and their students. Numbers are limited to 16 children per coach and consist of fun warm up’s, skills and small sided games in the following sports:
Football, Basketball, Athletics, Uni–hockey, Quik Cricket, Gymnastics, Tennis, Multi sports
The Foundation organises half or full day ground tours of its present stadium in Kingsmeadow, Kingston that can be based on specific themes around literacy, numeracy or health. These combine fun based learning activities around the ground such as measuring the pitch, researching information from a programme, studying the diet of a footballer and working out the cost of travelling to a game with a practical sports session.
School assemblies are themed on the club’s history and role in the community and also PSHE and citizenship themes of resilience, teamwork, fairness, behaviour, self-esteem and values.
Player and mascot visits can be arranged linked to delivery of sessions or assemblies. Haydon the Womble is a very popular mascot who promotes the club and acts as a good citizen helping to look after the environment.
Foundation coaches can deliver structured team coaching for school teams that focuses on developing matchplay skills and use of tactics. Local and regional tournaments such as the EFL Kids and Girls Cup are regularly run by the Foundation across the year.
For participating schools in our programmes the Foundation is able to offer 20 free tickets to attend a home AFC Wimbledon fixture and enjoy the atmosphere and experience of attending a home game. Please contact us to book a game.
