Volunteer Mentor

Role description:

In support of the Mayor’s New Deal for Young People, a partnership of 10 Merton based youth organisations have secured an exciting grant from the Greater London Authority, through the Propel initiative.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation are seeking volunteers to support our partnership programme, Motivate Merton. We are looking for individuals 21+, passionate about positive outcomes for young people and experience of empathy for the challenges they face growing up in London. 

Please note, this is an unpaid volunteer role.

Start: October 2024 - March 2025

Commitment: 45-90 minute sessions, fortnightly 1:1 mentoring sessions. February -August 2024

Location: Various locations across the Merton borough

Community sports coach

AFC Wimbledon Foundation are looking for a committed and enthusiastic FA qualified Level 2 Community Sports Coach to join our small, award-winning team of staff and volunteers, to work across our community programmes in SW London.

Ideally the candidate will live locally, have at least one year’s experience of working in a community sports environment and have a good understanding of the issues affecting local communities in our area.   The job role will involve delivering football, health and multi-sports sessions in a range of school, youth and community settings, with the ability to engage and lead structured activity for different age groups and ability levels.  

The community focus of our work is central, and we are looking for an individual who is able to inspire and motivate young and older people, acting as a role model and reflecting the values of the Foundation.

Casual Coaching role

Job description:

As the workload of the AFC Wimbledon Foundation is increasing we are looking to recruit additional casual coaches to initially deliver after-school sessions as well as Saturday morning and holiday period Player Development courses, with a view to increased hours and curriculum delivery in the future.

Pay will vary depending on qualifications, experience and hours worked. The AFC Wimbledon Foundation is a London Living Wage employer.

If you hold an FA Level 1 or Level 2 Coaching Award, have experience of working in school and community settings, live locally in the South West London area and are interested in working for a growing Community Foundation please send a covering letter and CV.

Location: Wimbledon, Wandsworth and neighbouring boroughs

Start: Immediate

Key working hours:

  • Monday-Friday 3.00-5.00pm

  • Saturday 9am-12pm

  • Weekday evenings

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • FA Level 1

  • FA Emergency Aid

  • FA Safeguarding Children

  • Must have or complete an FA Enhanced DBS

Desirable:

  • FA Level 2

Hours: 6-12 per week

Salary: £13.50-£18.00 per hour
