we inspire active lifestyles in local children

Sponsored by MidexPRO.

we know that taking part in regular exercise is good for your body and mind. but the lack of opportunities in our local community means that children from disadvantaged areas often don’t get the chance.

We are here to ensure that every child has the chance to play sports or exercise and also spot talent and ensure pathways are in place for development.

here are some of the sessions we currently provide, but we want to do more.

  • Premier league kicks

FREE football sessions in for local boys and girls aged 11+

  • active dons

FREE holiday activity programmes where children enjoy fun activities and a hot meal

  • Football for All

Our flagship football session for 4-16 year olds in Wimbledon Park every Saturday morning

  • Player development Centre (PDC)

Our Player Development Centre, for 7-16 year olds, bridges the gap between community and academy football.

  • our Primary school offer

AFC Wimbledon Foundation delivers after school sports and PE sessions in 16 local schools, engaging over 2500 children in physical exercise.

  • EDUCATION FOOTBALL PROGRAMME (EFP)

Our EFP allows 16-18 year olds to study and play football at AFC Wimbledon.

we need more support

We need more funding so we can reach, engage and encourage more children and young people in our community to lead an active lifestyle.

Why do we need to encourage active lifestyles in local children?

Mental health issues and obesity rates in children living in Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston are higher than average.

Parents on low incomes can’t afford the additional costs to send their children to sports/ activity clubs e.g. travel, kit and fees.

There are huge inequalities in provision of sport across social divide.

Some children don't have access to any after school sports opportunities.

Lots of children drop out of sports participation in their teens.

It costs more to be healthy and people are struggling with the cost of living crisis

Why we need funding

We want to employ a new social inclusion officer to run new FREE sessions in other deprived areas in our community

We want to organise more FREE football sessions in our community.

We want to fund children from disadvantaged areas so they can a travel to our sessions and have all the kit they need.

We want to hire more sports coaches so we can provide even more high quality PE and after school sessions in the local community.
