Cheryl Aiming to make a Positive Impact

The EDI training initiative marks a significant step forward for the Foundation and is the start of a promising journey ahead
— Cheryl Gill, Community Development Manager

Cheryl Gill joined AFC Wimbledon Foundation in December as Community Development Manager, with the aim of expanding our health and wellbeing programmes.

Last month she helped deliver our Holiday Activity Fund (HAF) Programme, providing fun and engaging camps for 50 local children who otherwise would not be able to afford them. Every child attending also receives a hot meal as part of the programme, helping to tackle food inequality.

During her first month Cheryl attended an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training session, where she “was encouraged by the proactive attitude towards fostering an inclusive work culture”.

Cheryl was “impressed by the quality of training and resources”, explaining that “the tools used enhanced the learning experience, making the session more engaging and relatable”.

I am excited by the opportunity of expanding the Foundation’s understanding of the diverse communities we engage with, and ultimately increase the positive impact we can make
