we champion sustainable sports participation for women & girls
For too long women and girls have had to earn the right to play football and we know boys have way more opportunities to play sport.
After the successes of the Lionesses in the Euros, AFC Wimbledon Foundation wants to boost the number of women and girls playing football and keeping active.
here are some of the sessions we currently provide, but we want to do more.

we need your support
We need more funding so we can engage more women and girls in our community to get active and stay active.
Why do less women and girls play sports?
There are way more barriers and challenges for girls to play sports and continue to play.
There is little government funding for girls only sessions.
There are fewer opportunities for girls to play sports than boys.
Self-belief, capability and body image concerns can be significant issues for all girls.
Parents still encourage sport for their sons, even more so if they have limited time and money.
A lot of women, girls or parents don’t have the money for kit, travel and / or fees.
Having children and the responsibilities of motherhood often stop women from taking part in team sports.
Why we need funding
We want to employ more inspirational women coaches.
We want to organise more FREE women and girls only sessions in our community.
We want to fund girls from disadvantaged areas so they can a travel to our sessions and have all the kit they need.
