Dons Stars Bring Festive Cheer To St George’s Hospital
Members of AFC Wimbledon’s men’s and women’s first-teams spread Christmas cheer to patients at St George’s Hospital on Thursday, teaming up with AFC Wimbledon Foundation once again.
Haydon the Womble was also in attendance as he joined Ali Al-Hamadi, Lauren Allen, Faye Baker, Omar Bugiel, Josh Neufville and Jake Reeves – putting plenty of smiles on the faces of children at this special time of year.
Our presents ranged from replica Wimbledon shirts to board games as we also met hard-working hospital staff.
A big thank you to CHARACTER GROUP for donating some of the gifts that were handed out to the patients.

Foundation Director, Philip Rudling said: “We always enjoy visiting St George’s at this time of year and it was another great opportunity for the Club to be out and about in the local community. The players from the men’s and women’s first-teams were fantastic and really engaged well with the young people and their families and of course Haydon turned out to be the star of the show!
“Our supporters have once again proved to be very generous and contributed very kindly to this appeal for toys and free places for children on our Xmas courses.”
Tracey Gibbons, a playworker and nurse at St George’s added, “The players were excellent at meeting the parents and children on the unit and we were so impressed that they went the extra mile to listen and talk to the families at length – the children loved the toys and club gifts and also the wonderful Haydon the Womble.”
