Surbiton high Are Back and Through to the Next Stage!

Surbiton High returned to the pitch today as they stepped into the first round of this year’s Utilita Cup, a competition that already holds special memories for AFC Wimbledon Foundation. Today, Surbiton High School emerged victorious, meaning they will now represent AFC Wimbledon Foundation again in the next stage of the competition.

Earlier this year, Surbiton High School represented AFC Wimbledon Foundation at the 2025 Utilita Cup. The girls team delivered an unforgettable performance at Wembley Stadium, lifting the Utilita Cup after a brilliant display of determination, skill and pure Wimbledon spirit. It was a proud moment for the team, their coaches and everyone who supports the Foundation

Now they are back and through to the next stage. We spoke to Zak Elberki, Head of Football at Surbiton High School:

“I’m really excited for the next stage. The girls played brilliantly today, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can achieve moving forward. Thank you to AFC Wimbledon Foundation for organising such a fantastic event - the girls had a great time.”

“Today we welcomed seven schools to compete in the Utilita Cup, and it was fantastic from start to finish. The girls’ attitude and positivity were outstanding, and every school showed excellent sportsmanship. The level of talent on display was remarkable - every single player showed a spark and a real future in football, from grassroots all the way up. It was a truly positive day, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.”

This year’s tournament is as much about development and opportunity as it is about football. Every fixture offers our young people the chance to grow, challenge themselves and showcase their talent, supported by our coaches, families and the wider community that stands behind them.

We look forward to seeing the Surbiton High team grow within the competition and with a bit of luck, perhaps we’ll be celebrating another cup victory before long!
