Bringing cheer to st. george’s hospital: but the appeal still continues!

Together with AFC Wimbledon first team players, we brought Christmas cheer to children spending the festive period on the wards of St. George’s Hospital. Players from the first team, including Club Captain Jake Reeves, joined staff from the Foundation to hand out presents and spend time with young patients and their families at this festive time of year.

The visit brought plenty of smiles, with Haydon the Womble proving as popular as ever as he made his way around the wards. He spent time greeting children, posing for photos and sharing a few festive laughs with families and staff. His presence added an extra bit of magic to the afternoon, and the delighted reactions from the children showed just how much the visit meant.

The visit also drew the attention of the media, with both ITV’s EFL Show and BBC News joining us to capture the occasion and highlight the brilliant work carried out by the Foundation throughout the year. Their coverage will help shine a wider light on the importance of supporting children and families in our community.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, we were able to deliver gifts that made a real difference to children spending Christmas in hospital. The joy on their faces said everything. Although, the hospital visit is complete, our Christmas Appeal is far from over.

We are still raising vital funds for our Club Together Bursary, which ensures children from families facing financial hardship can take part in holiday camps, football sessions, mentoring, matchday experiences and pathways into coaching and refereeing. These opportunities keep young people active, connected and supported - not just at Christmas, but all year round.

  • £10 could provide an inclusive and accessible sports session for a child with special educational needs

  • £25 could cover a match ticket and travel so a young supporter can enjoy a visit to Plough Lane.

  • £50 could support a young person to take part in several days at one of our holiday football camps or the Kicks programme, helping to keep children active, engaged and off the streets.

  • £100 or more could help train a future coach or referee, providing skills, qualifications and role models our community can be proud of.

Your donations have already helped us bring comfort to children in hospital. With your continued support, we can go even further and change lives across our local community long after the festive season has ended.

If you are able to contribute, please donate to our Christmas Appeal today. Every donation makes a lasting difference.
