Celebrating Community: Foundation Day Returns to Plough Lane!
This Saturday marks a very special day for AFC Wimbledon Foundation, as we come together to celebrate our annual Foundation Day, at the home match of AFC Wimbledon vs. Burton Albion at Plough Lane.
Our incredible volunteers and staff will be out in force, helping raise funds and shine a light on the vital work the Foundation delivers across our local community. It’s a chance to celebrate not just a football match, but our shared mission; to build a healthier, stronger and more equitable future for everyone we serve in the community.
What’s happening
Join in the fun at our Family Zone! With inflatables, arts & crafts & a mini pitch to have fun before the game starts. Supporters are also invited to purchase raffle tickets, with all proceeds going directly to our community programmes and outreach work. Raffle ticket prizes include:2 hospitality tickets for a home game, 4 home game tickets, signed shirt, signed football & more!
A specially organised Dons parade will take place at half-time: children, young people and volunteers will perform a lap of appreciation ahead of the crowd, with flags proudly waving at the side of the pitch.
Why Foundation Day matters
The Foundation remains a vital part of the fabric of our community. From holiday football sessions and health outreach to education support and volunteering opportunities, our work touches hundreds of lives each year. Foundation Day gives us the perfect platform to celebrate that impact and invite others to join us in making a difference.
The Impact
In the past year alone, AFC Wimbledon Foundation has:
Provided coaching and support to 50 young adults aged 18–25, as part of a custody-based intervention programme DIVERT, designed to reduce reoffending.
Engaged 420, 8-18years olds at risk of anti-social behaviour and criminal activity through our weekly PL Kicks programme.
Engaged 4,020 girls and women through community programmes, school initiatives, football development sessions and holiday camps.
Support more than 200 older adults each week across wellbeing programmes including Walking Football, Active Ageing, Veteran Breakfast and Dons Fit.
Looking forward
Although the football is centre-stage, and we’re all hoping for three points against Burton Albion, the day is about so much more. It’s about the power of sport, the strength of community and the value of coming together. With thousands anticipated to join us in the stadium, the atmosphere promises to be electric.
Huge thanks are due to our staff and volunteers, plus donors & corporate partners who have already stepped up with donations. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
See you at Plough Lane this Saturday, where every flag, every cheer and every raffle ticket helps us create a more healthier, stronger & more equitable future.
