Chiharu Inspired by the Champions

9-year-old Chiharu attended her first football game on Sunday and was inspired by the reigning champion AFC Wimbledon Women’s team, as they earned a 1-1 draw with Lewes in their first game in Tier 3.

Chiharu attended with her mum and dad following a fun week on our Girls Only Holiday Courses, where she enjoyed the games and matches before receiving free tickets to the Women’s game at Plough Lane.

Nicole Jones, our Female Football Development Officer, explained that Chiharu was “super excited to tell everyone on Monday morning that she went to the game and saw a goal!”. Nicole added that “it is great to see the inspiration that the Women’s team have on girls at the Foundation”.

Chiharu’s mum Naoko also bought her the new AFC Wimbledon home kit at the game, which she proudly wore on Monday. Naoko explained that Chiharu’s been having a “great time in camp and we appreciate Nicole and the other coaches for being supportive and helping her build her confidence”.

During our Summer Appeal we need donations so we can provide as many FREE places on our Holiday Courses as possible, so more local kids can come to their first camp, get active and make new friends this summer holiday.
