Last Christmas, our visit to the paediatric wards at St George’s Hospital reminded us just how powerful a small act of kindness can be. Players, staff and our mascot Haydon, joined forces to deliver gifts to children spending the festive season in hospital, and the impact was immediate. Some children responded with quiet smiles, others showed clear excitement as they opened their gifts and many parents expressed their appreciation for the support offered during a challenging time.

Those moments stayed with us all long after we left the ward. They reminded us that community spirit thrives when people come together to support each other.

This festive season, we are determined to recreate that warmth and solidarity. On 11th December, AFC Wimbledon players will return to St George’s Hospital to deliver presents, spend time with young patients and let families know that their local club is thinking of them. Offering a brief escape from treatment or worry to both the children and families at this time of year.

Donate To Buy a Present For a Child in Hospital

We cannot do this without our community.

Help us once again bring hope, laughter and a sense of normality to children who need it most. Your generosity will ensure that every child we meet on the wards receives a present and that families feel the strength and support of the Wimbledon community around them.

Whilst the festive season is all about giving, the hospital visit is just part of this appeal, your donations will also help us continue a much wider mission. Across the year, the Club Together Bursary enables children from families facing financial hardship to take part in programmes that support their development, confidence and wellbeing. These activities aren’t luxuries, they are lifelines that keep young people connected, active and supported.

With your help, we can continue offering:

  • Holiday camps that give children a safe and energising space during school breaks

  • Football sessions like Friday Night Kicks, giving teenagers a positive, structured environment

  • Mentoring support, helping young people navigate challenges and build resilience

  • Matchday experiences, offering excitement, inspiration and a sense of belonging

  • Pathways into coaching and refereeing, nurturing the next generation of community leaders

By donating this Christmas, you are helping children enjoy the festive season, but you are also giving them opportunities that shape confidence, friendships and futures long after the decorations come down.

How your support can make a difference

We want every donor to know exactly what their gift can achieve. Here’s how your contribution could help:

  • £10 could buy a present for a child in hospital, such as a book, soft toy or puzzle

  • £25 could cover a match ticket and travel so a young supporter can visit Plough Lane

  • £50 could support a young person to enjoy several days at one of our holiday football camps or Kicks Programme, which help keeps kids off the street

  • £100 or more could help train a future coach or referee, providing skills, qualifications and role models our community can be proud of

Thank you for being part of the AFC Wimbledon community, and for supporting this year’s Christmas Appeal 2025. Together, we can make a meaningful and lasting difference.
