Dons Cycle Challenge Raises Over £27k for the Foundation!
The biggest Velo & Blue event yet!
A team of 29 dedicated cyclists successfully completed this year’s Dons Cycle Challenge last Saturday, raising just over an incredible £27,000 in support of AFC Wimbledon Foundation.
Setting off from Plough Lane at 8:30am, the team took on a 50-mile journey to Stevenage FC’s Lamex Stadium, arriving in time for kick-off at 3pm after a day defined by determination, teamwork and brilliant spirit.
With three planned pit stops along the route, providing well-earned food and water, the riders made steady progress north of the river, enjoying clear skies and sunshine throughout the day. The conditions were matched by an incredible sense of camaraderie, with cyclists supporting each other every mile of the way.

This year’s challenge brought together an inspiring group of supporters, including one rider who travelled all the way from the United States to take part - a testament to the unique spirit and community that surrounds AFC Wimbledon.
While the result on the pitch didn’t go the Dons’ way, the day was a huge success off it. The challenge not only raised vital funds but also brought together a remarkable team of people united by a shared commitment to making a difference.
The team were greeted with an incredible reception on arrival at the Lamex Stadium, with Dons fans out in force to cheer them over the finish line. After 50 miles in the saddle, the sight of familiar colours, and even Haydon the Womble, gave the riders a huge lift and was a fitting end to a brilliant collective effort.
A special thank you also goes to Steve and the team at Stevenage FC Foundation, whose warm welcome made the day even more memorable. From helping coordinate the finish to bringing supporters out to celebrate the riders’ arrival, and organising a hot meal after the game, their support perfectly reflected the spirit of community that sits at the heart of the challenge. Steve even managed to get ex players Mikey Haswell & Damien Francis on the pitch at half time!
Every pound raised will support the Foundation’s work across south west London, helping to deliver programmes that improve wellbeing, tackle inequality and create opportunities for people aged 4 to 96.
A huge thank you goes to all of our cyclists for their effort, energy and dedication - not only in completing the ride, but in the hard work they put into fundraising in the lead-up to the challenge. Their commitment has made a real and lasting impact.
The Foundation would also like to thank everyone who donated, supported and cheered the team on throughout the day.
Together, this team has shown what can be achieved when a community comes together, turning 50 miles into something far more meaningful.
Our Club. Our Community.💛💙
