Finishing the season with a Festival of Football

AFC Wimbledon Foundation rounded off the 2023-24 season in style, hosting a Festival of Football at Plough Lane for our participants, Dons fans and other local children.

The mixed and girls only 5-a-side tournaments gave over 300 kids the opportunity to emulate their heroes, by playing on the stadium pitch of our Men’s and Women’s First Teams.

One of the teams who entered were Broomwood FC’s Girls U8s (above), who were celebrating their first season as a team in which they’ve shown a fantastic improvement. Marc, their coach, said the girls loved playing on a professional pitch, describing it as “the highlight of their season”.

“It’s AWESOME, I love to see the kids running around and smiling all the time”

Another attendee was Agnes, sporting an AFC Wimbledon home shirt, who attended having recently moved from Melbourne, Australia. She and her brother enjoyed the day so much they both signed up for our May half-term holiday courses.

Natty, one of our Football for All regulars, entered the tournament in a team of his friends from the Saturday morning sessions. They scored plenty of goals while running their socks off in the sunshine at Plough Lane.

Thank you to MidexPRO for sponsoring our Active Lifestyles pillar, allowing us to help more local children. To find out more about becoming a corporate partner like MidexPRO, please click here.
