Foundation Day: 25th october 2025
On Saturday 25th October at the home game vs Burton Albion, AFC Wimbledon proudly celebrated Foundation Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognising the incredible work of AFC Wimbledon Foundation, founded 13 years ago.
AFC Wimbledon is more than football; we’re at the heart of our community. The Foundation delivers 33 weekly programmes, engaging over 3,500 local people aged 4 to 96, keeping them active, confident, and connected.
Our work has supported 79 young people into education, training, and employment, and supported over 400 children and teens at risk of anti-social behaviour. Every week, 200 older adults benefit from wellbeing programmes, while over 4,000 girls and women take part in football, school initiatives, and holiday camps.
The day was a fantastic celebration both on and off the pitch. The team wore exclusive Foundation logo shirts, which are now being auctioned online to raise funds for our community programmes. Don’t miss out! Bidding closes on Wednesday, 5th November.
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our fans, our Foundation Day raffle raised over £3,500. These vital funds will enable us to continue delivering a wide range of programmes and initiatives that make a real difference across the community. From supporting local families and young people to helping improve wellbeing and create new opportunities, every pound raised plays a part in strengthening our impact and ensuring that our work can reach even more people in need.
At half-time, the spotlight shone on the future of our Foundation as our young participants proudly took part in a pitch parade, and we were honoured to announce former double-promotion-winning Don, Mikey Haswell, as our new Foundation Ambassador.
Our Head of Fundraising, Paul Munro, said:
“We’re all so happy with how Foundation Day went. It was our biggest and most ambitious yet, with almost 200 participant guests, flag bearers around the pitch, a guard of honour, and a half-time parade.
We couldn’t have done it without the club’s incredible support in dedicating a matchday to the Foundation and helping us showcase the work we do.”
AFC Wimbledon Foundation exists to unite our club and community for a healthier, stronger, and more equitable future. Through sport, education, and community engagement, we’re tackling inequality, improving lives locally, and helping people learn, achieve, and thrive - on and off the pitch.
