Special Recognition Award Winner - sCOTT lOCKWOOD

The Special Recognition Award is reserved for someone whose impact is truly lasting – someone whose dedication and character lift everyone around them.

Scott Lockwood, our Football Development Officer, has served 18 years at the club and makes every football session he attends better.

Whether it’s a busy Holiday Course, our Player Development Centre or a Football for All session, Scott is there to create inclusive, fun, and safe spaces for our young people to thrive.

Much loved by children and parents, Scott has a natural ability to connect, to inspire confidence, and to make kids feel valued and seen. He brings joy, structure, and a real sense of belonging to the programmes he runs.

Scott at AFC Wimbledon Foundation Day

Having started as a volunteer coach for what was then known as AFC Wimbledon’s Community Football Scheme, Scott has become a key coach across multiple Foundation Programmes.

Recognised as a cornerstone of our team by our Trustees and Senior Staff, Scott is now responsible for the running of several Football Development programmes, including our flagship Wimbledon Park Football for All session.

Scott brings energy, consistency and approachability to everything he does, which includes when he goes above and beyond the call of duty to support AFC Wimbledon Foundation. Despite a fear of heights, Scott has taken on an abseil down the side of Plough Lane and a skydive from 15,000 feet, all to raise money for the Foundation.

One of our Foundation Trustees, Karen Peck, thanked Scott for “doing so much for the Foundation” and brining “energy and life to the work that we do with children, working across the board on all of our activities”. With fond memories of working with Scott during the pandemic, Karen added that Scott’s “work is tireless and we will always be very, very grateful for everything that you have achieved”.
