Calling all teenagers - Help change lives and boost your CV!

Are you aged between 15-17 and looking to do something very meaningful this summer?

With the country starting to get back on its feet, and lockdown slowly being lifted, everyone - from national organisations to local food banks, charities to corner shops, your neighbours to care homes - is going to need a little more help to get back to whatever ‘normal’ is going to be. But what if you want to help, but aren’t quite sure how to do that?

Well, this is your chance to help get the country back to business, once it’s safe to do so. All you have to do is make a pledge to donate some of your time over August to join our Foundation on an eight-day programme filled with workshops and volunteer opportunities.

You can even decide what your local community needs and set up a social action project of your own. However you choose to help, you’ll pick up new skills, help rebuild local communities, create positive change and get all of our futures off to a good start.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation Director Philip Rudling said: “This is aimed at year 11 and 12 pupils who want to get involved in the heart of their communities. They will have an opportunity to work in a small group of 10-12 volunteers and decide what social action programme that they want to be involved with. We will encourage them to get involved with our staff in coordinating our summer sports programmes and to help with the work of the Dons Local Action Group at food collection points.

“It offers a chance for young people to add skills to their CVs and this initiative is part of the volunteer culture we are helping to support. If you are looking for something rewarding to do and to help with activities that have a positive impact in the community, please get in touch with us.”

This initiative is thanks to a partnership with the National Citizens Service and you can visit the website for a list of FAQs.

Sign up today and let us know when you’re available, and we’ll get in touch as soon as we can with opportunities to get involved with. Please call our Foundation on 07593 444 925 or e-mail rhiannon.maher@afcwimbledonfoundation.org.uk
