Set up a fundraising page

To dedicate your birthday to AFC Wimbledon Foundation all you need to do is set up a special celebration fundraising page. It only takes a few minutes. Then share it on all your social media channel and email your friends and family asking for donations. The donations come straight to us and you can make your page really special by adding photos and your story.

Set up a Birthday fundraiser on facebook

1. On your computer, log in to Facebook.

2. On the left, click Fundraisers.

   • Tip: If you can't see Fundraisers on the left-hand side, then click See more.

3. On the left-hand side, click Raise money.

4. Click Charity.

5. You can either:

   • Scroll to find AFC Wimbledon Foundation

   • Type into the search bar to find us

6. Select AFC Wimbledon Foundation.

7. On the left, enter:

   • The goal amount of money that you want to raise

   • The currency you want the funds to be in

8. Click Create.

You'll see a screen pop up where you can invite your friends to donate to your birthday fundraiser, share your fundraiser in your feed or donate to the fundraiser yourself.

If you're not ready to do any of those things, click Not now.

TOP TIPS FOR RAISING MORE BEFORE your birthday

• Kick off your fundraising page by adding the first donation yourself.

• If guests can’t make it to your birthday, ask them to donate instead. Making a donation is the perfect way to say Happy Birthday if they can’t say it in person.

• Note on your party invitations that the AFC Wimbledon Foundation is your chosen charity, why, and that you would welcome donations. Some supporters ask for donations instead of gifts.

• Set a target on your online fundraising page and you could raise up to 46% more. If you hit your target early, increase it!

• Ask people to add Gift Aid by mentioning the benefits of doing so on your page description.

  Get in touch with your manager or HR team to see if your employer offers ‘Matched Giving’. It’s an easy way to double your fundraising as your employer will agree to match the amount you raise.

• And finally, don’t be afraid to tell everyone you know about your fundraising. Add your story and photos to your fundraising page, then share on your social media channels, on WhatsApp and by email!
