230 Young Footballers Take to the Pitch at Plough Lane!
AFC Wimbledon Foundation welcomed 230 Year 4 and Year 5 pupils to Plough Lane for an exciting day of football, teamwork and positive competition.
Boys and girls from local primary schools had the opportunity to represent their schools and play on the pitch at the home of AFC Wimbledon. For many of the participants, it was their first experience of playing inside a professional football stadium, making the event a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
Throughout the day, teams competed in a series of matches that encouraged pupils to demonstrate teamwork, resilience, respect and fair play. The event provided opportunities for players of different experience levels to participate, develop their confidence and enjoy representing their school in a supportive environment.
Alongside the competitive element, the day focused on creating positive experiences through sport. Pupils were encouraged to support their teammates, build relationships with children from other schools and put the values they have developed through school sport into practice.
AFC Wimbledon Foundation staff and coaches helped ensure the event was delivered safely and successfully, with school staff also playing an important role in supporting and encouraging their pupils throughout the day.
The event formed part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to increasing opportunities for children across the local community to become active, develop essential life skills and create lasting memories through football.
AFC Wimbledon Foundation would like to thank all participating schools, pupils, teachers, coaches and staff who contributed to a fantastic day at Plough Lane.
